It's a testament to the guys up there who made me feel comfortable right away. I'd had 25 games out there before my big league debut. In right field, there were a lot of butterflies. This is a spot I'm comfortable in.' So, I think that helped out a lot. I think I was more nervous to be out in right field than I was to hit, which was kind of nice because when I got into the batter's box I thought, 'Ok. You've got the excitement of being there, looking back at all the years of hard work, and then you've got the nerves. If you had told me in 2017, when I was drafted, that I was going to make my debut in right field, I would have said, 'You're crazy!' You get there and you think of all the years of hard work to get there, finally making it, finally getting into the lineup, starting in right field- a position I hadn't played until that year. It was a lot of emotions, almost overwhelming. What stands out to you as you look back on that first weekend in the big leagues? You had some incredible moments right away - a couple of hits and RBIs in your first game, a home run in your second, etc. It was just celebrating something that happened on our team. Everybody wasn't worried about themselves that day. It's a testament to the guys we have on our team. There was no one who was off to the side saying, 'Why not me?' And, that just makes it even better. So, being able to celebrate with them and see their excitement with meвЂ¦ it was an awesome day! Whenever you are called in like that, they know what is going on. I came back in, and all the players were there.

You're out of the lineup today because you're going to fly out to Chicago tomorrow morning. And, they said, 'We made a lineup change. We were in Nashville and I got called in before the game. How did you get 'the call' that you were going to the majors and what was that moment like?

He got a hit in his first at bat (a single to left field), homered in his second game, homered again in front of his home fans - including his father and members of the Gilman family - at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and hit the first game-winning, walk-off home run of his life (not just his pro career!). 225, hit six home runs, and knocked in 16 runs. In between, he played in 29 games, batted. On August 9, he was sent back down to the Triple-A Charlotte Knights. He had previously spent two days with the team earlier that month, but did not appear in any games. On June 29, Gavin Sheets '14 was called back up to join the Chicago White Sox.
